Calculation Steps

Step 1: Measure the area of each room in square feet.

Step 2: Add the areas of all rooms to get the total area.

Step 3: Input a waste factor (as a percentage) and price per square foot.

Step 4: Calculate the total cost using the formula:

Formula: $$\text{Total Cost} = \text{Total Area} \times (1 + \text{Waste Factor}) \times \text{Price per Square Foot}$$

Example

Let's say you have three rooms with areas of 100 sq ft, 150 sq ft, and 200 sq ft, a waste factor of 10% (0.1), and a price per square foot of $3.

Step 1: Calculate the total area:

$$\text{Total Area} = 100 + 150 + 200 = 450 \text{ sq ft}$$

Step 2: Calculate the total cost:

$$\text{Total Cost} = 450 \times (1 + 0.1) \times 3 = 450 \times 1.1 \times 3 = 1485$$

So, the total cost is $1,485.
