Calculation Steps

Step 1: Measure the radius of the room.

Step 2: Calculate the area using the formula for the area of a circle.

Formula: $$\text{Area} = \pi \times \text{radius}^2$$

Step 3: Add the waste factor to the total area.

Formula: $$\text{Total Area} = \text{Area} \times (1 + \text{Waste Factor})$$

Step 4: Calculate the total cost by multiplying the total area by the price per square foot (if provided).

Formula: $$\text{Total Cost} = \text{Total Area} \times \text{Price per Square Foot}$$

Example

Let's say you have a room with a radius of 10 feet, a waste factor of 5%, and a price per square foot of $3.00.

Step 1: Calculate the area:

$$\text{Area} = 3.14159 \times 10^2 = 3.14159 \times 100 = 314.159 \text{ sq ft}$$

Step 2: Add the waste factor:

$$\text{Total Area} = 314.159 \times (1 + 0.05) = 314.159 \times 1.05 = 329.867 \text{ sq ft}$$

Step 3: Calculate the total cost:

$$\text{Total Cost} = 329.867 \times 3.00 = 989.60$$

So, you would need 329.867 sq ft of flooring, and the total cost would be $989.60.
