Calculation Steps

Step 1: Measure the project area in square feet.

Step 2: Select the laminate material and note its cost range.

Step 3: Add the fixed costs for labor, additional materials, equipment rental, and optionally floor removal.

Step 4: Calculate the total cost and cost per square foot.

Formula: $$\text{Total Cost} = (\text{Laminate Cost} + \text{Labor Cost} + \text{Materials Cost}) \times \text{Area} + \text{Equipment Rental Cost} + \text{Removal Cost} \times \text{Area}$$

Formula: $$\text{Cost per Square Foot} = \frac{\text{Total Cost}}{\text{Area}}$$

Example

Let's say you have a laminate flooring area of 100 sq ft, using 5-8mm thickness laminate, with fixed costs for labor, materials, equipment rental, and optionally floor removal.

Step 1: Calculate the total cost range:

$$\text{Total Cost Min} = (1 + 4 + 1) \times 100 + 50 = 550$$

$$\text{Total Cost Max} = (2 + 6 + 1.5) \times 100 + 80 = 1,030$$

If including floor removal:

$$\text{Total Cost Min} = (1 + 4 + 1 + 2) \times 100 + 50 = 750$$

$$\text{Total Cost Max} = (2 + 6 + 1.5 + 5) \times 100 + 80 = 1,530$$

Step 2: Calculate the cost per square foot:

$$\text{Cost per Square Foot Min} = \frac{550}{100} = 5.50$$

$$\text{Cost per Square Foot Max} = \frac{1,030}{100} = 10.30$$

If including floor removal:

$$\text{Cost per Square Foot Min} = \frac{750}{100} = 7.50$$

$$\text{Cost per Square Foot Max} = \frac{1,530}{100} = 15.30$$

So, the total cost range is $550 - $1,030 (or $750 - $1,530 with removal), and the cost per square foot range is $5.50 - $10.30 (or $7.50 - $15.30 with removal).
